Direct Thermal or Thermal Transfer?
Our range of thermal printers can use either Direct Thermal, or Thermal Transfer printing method. Both produce high quality barcodes, graphics and text at equal speeds. Direct Thermal is probably the easiest of any printing technology to use, as no consumables except paper are needed. But because the paper is sensitive to heat and light, it’s less suited to hot or bright areas. Typical applications include shipping labels, hospital labels, tickets and receipts. Thermal Transfer technology involves wax or resin being transferred to the paper and creating a permanent image. It can also be used to print on to plastic and synthetic materials. Thermal Transfer printers are ideal for asset tagging, stock identification, certification, outdoor labels, freezer labels, laboratory labels, specimens and cold storage.
